MICROWAVE GENERATORS

The OPTHOS MPG-4 and MPG-4M microwave generators provide reliable, highly stable sources of microwave power in a compact unit.  Both models feature separate power meters for the simultaneous monitoring of forward and reflected power levels.  The power may be varied continuously from 0 - 120 watts.  Ripple in the RF signal is about 1%.  Output is through a standard Type-N connector mounted on the front panel.  A 4 ft. coaxial cable is included with each unit at no extra charge.

MPG generators are suitable for a wide variety of applications, such as the production of microwave discharges in gases.  Microwave power is coupled to the discharge by means of an antenna or tuned cavity.  The separate power meters on the generators greatly facilitate tuning of cavities as the effect of any tuning adjustment on both forward and reflected powers is immediately seen.

The MPG-4 model is a standard CW generator.  It is identical to the MPG-4M model except that it does not have the capability of modulating the RF signal.

The MPG-4M generator can be operated in either a CW mode or a modulated mode.  In the modulated mode the output signal is a square wave that can be varied in frequency from 7 to 800 Hz.  The duty cycle can be varied from 5% to 85%.  The modulation signal can be fed to a lock-in amplifier and oscilloscope via a BNC connector on the front panel.
